Overview
Kitaboo Studio is the authoring environment where manuals and interactives are created, updated, and prepared for publishing. This article explains how the studio works, what its limitations are, and which team (Curriculum or IT) is responsible for each task.
Key Information
How the Studio Works
The studio is where manuals and interactives are built. Each manual is made up of several pieces that must be in place before it can be published. These include the manual content itself and any interactives that accompany it. Once those pieces are assembled, the manual is published so that learners can access it.
Updating a manual follows the same environment. Changes are made in the studio and then republished so that the latest version is available. Because edits happen in the studio rather than in the published version, an update does not reach learners until it has been republished.
Limitations of the Studio
Editing is tied to the creating account. Only the account that created a manual or interactive can edit it. No other account can make changes, even if that user has similar permissions.
Workaround: use a single shared account. To avoid being locked out of content, all manuals and interactives should be created under one designated account. That way, anyone authorized to use it can make updates later.
No audit trail. The system does not record who made which changes or when. If tracking edits matters, Curriculum will need to document changes outside of Kitaboo.
One user at a time. Only one person can be logged into the shared account at once. Teams should coordinate access so that two people don’t attempt to work in the account at the same time.
